Boston area paddling shop?

I will be visiting some in-laws in the Boston area next weekend (Dec 1). I believe they live in North Reading. If I need a break, I would like to visit a nice paddling shop while I am there. I am more interested in canoes than kayaks.

Suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks. Mike

If you’re in North Reading you can go to REI, but you should check out www.nesmallcraft.com in Rowley, 30 minutes away. Not too many canoes but a great shop. Fernalds in Newbury MA might have more canoes. Charles River Canoe & Kayak in Newton MA should have a few canoes too.

Local Boat Shops
New England Small Craft on Rt 1 in Rowley Mass is a neat shop. Mostly geared towards Sea Kayaks but they do have a few canoes and whitewater boats.

Charles River Canoe and Kayak on Rt 30 in Weston is another that should have a few more canoes.

REI on Rt 129 in Reading only if you are desperate. They do stock a few boats and gear.

I’ve been told that REI in Framingham is supposed to have more boating stuff.

Good Luck,

Tommy

thanks for the info
I’ll try to check out at least one of the shops.

Wilderness House
1020 Commonwealth Ave had a pretty nice Canoe and Kayak selection.
