I lost the Boston valve for the port side of my Aquaglide chinook 100. Aquaglide is no longer making chinooks and no longer sell replacement valves. The base of the valve is 9/16 inch or 1.43 cm threads. The top is 7/8 inch or 2.22 cm threads. Im having difficulty finding a replacement. Any links you can share? Dan
I have bought Boston valves from diypackrafts.com. You don’t have to buy the exact size. I find it best to first glue replacement valve to a patch of vinyl, then cut the old valve carefully out of the boat or bladder skin and glue the patch over the hole. Cut the old one out first so you know how big of a patch to make for the new one.
Really? Surgery? It seems like a $4 investment in a simple Boston valve would be so easy. BTW that site, diypackrafts.com cannot be reached. Dan
Oops, my bad. It’s diypackraft.com – not plural. Here is a direct link to the Boston valve (they are $8). I notice the ones he stocks now are heat sealable, no glue required. But if you install one on a patch first, as I suggested, the smallest tube of the H-66 glue to adhere the patch is $9.00.
You didn’t specify what exactly it was you needed to replace --perhaps just the cap? The issue with that is finding the exact size match. Replacing the whole valve with a new one might be easier.
I have heard of people buying a cheap inflatable pool toy to scavenge a valve off of that, but the valves that the Packraft guy sells are what he includes in his kits for high-pressure white water pack rafts so I trust the quality and ability to withstand pressure.
