Can A Fly Rod Section Fit In a P&H Scorpio Hatch?

Hi

Im looking at a used Scorpio thats about 3 hours away.

I’ll need to be able to fit a broken down four piece fly rod (29") in a hatch. Im guessing the stern but was concerned the skeg box might prevent it.

If someone could tell me if this is possible id really appreciate it.

Should not be a problem given the thinness and flexibility of the rod and the depth of the boat. There is adequate space on each side of the skeg box. I put tent poles and rods in my 17’ sea kayak no problem.

I agree with castoff. I often carry tent poles and also I have carried a take-down rifle with me that is NOT flexible, and it goes through my oval hatches just fine. The longest section of the rifle is 26" long.
No problem carrying it.
