Can anyone suggest any good places to do some overnighting on a canoe in central South Carolina?
Might try this website

If you haven’t seen this website, it offers several good choices for canoe camping across the US. I have been on several of these rivers and find his site informative.
Also, if haven’t already contacted the canoe club in Columbia, SC you might try a trip or two with them and get some additional info on SC rivers.

Tyger River
It’s right up there with the Enoree. The upper reaches are mostly whitewater class II+ to III.Down below the S.C.49 bridge the river starts to slow down and makes a nice trip. You can easily turn this into a night or two.I believe from the upper reaches to the take out on the Broad River,it is @ a 60 mile trip. Also, there is the Broad River. From the Lake Lure dam to Lockhart is roughly 100 or so miles. There are several dams to portage though. These are just a couple of rivers around here.Of course,it’s not really central S.C. at the start of the trips but it is more so at the end.Check out these book titles:Paddling South Carolina and A Canoeing & Kayaking Guide to the Carolinas(formerly Carolina Whitewater).I may be able to help you further just e-mail me.
