As a frequent paddler of Lake George, woodcarver and lover of history, thought some here might find this of interest…

As a sometime Carver, that is impressive.

Nice - did you know there is also a canoe sculpture on the waterfront in Providence, RI
Looks like too nice a boat to be “wasted” as a permanent installation/sculpture!

I’m thinking of doing a full size chainsaw carving of this…
I did a 1/4 size chainsaw carving of a bear whose head looked a lot like my neighbor’s dog. My latest carvings have all been GP.
Is that a bear or a hog? Regardless, it looks better than my Pat bear.

I’ll admit it started as a roughed-out bear, but after the chainsaw nip off his snout, I decided to abort and leave it in the yard as a wild hog that just ate the lawnmower man. I generally don’t like bears as a subject matter, having so many actual real ones around my house (why bring 'more of 'em round with an idol?) Mostly I stick with whittling smaller media…
I have yet to carve a grandfather. It’s on my list somewhere.
