Charleston recommendations?

We’ll be in the area of Chareston, SC the first week of April and want to do a couple days of sea kayaking. We’ll have wilderness camping gear, so it can be day trips or over night.

What are your favorite places? Thanks.

Capers Island
Would definitely recommend Capers Island. Some pics from a trip there last year (copy and paste entire link):

You’ll have to check with the SC DNR on camping dates, fees etc…

Also check out lowcountrypaddlers.net for more info on that area and Paddling.net member guiffB.

SeaKayakCarolina.com is also a great resource, I’d give them a call!

Best,

Ryan

Don’t know how long you plan to stay…

but the East Coast Canoe and Kayak Festival begins there on the 13th of April (that's pre-programs, with the main Festival beginning the 17th).

We went last year and had a great time . . . and plan to return this year. For details, check: http://www.ccprc.com/index.asp?nid=472 .

Probably should’ve said
we have paddled the Edisto and launched at Shem Creek to do the bay. I had checked trip reports on the web and consulted the Able/Horan book.

Looking for additinal input. It’s coming in and we appreciate it.

Then I recommend IOP Marina
to Capers Island or Garris Landing to Bull Island. In both cases ,I recommend you ride the falling tide out and the incoming back in.Both are great trips. The beaches and the forests are beautiful and this is the most bug-free time to visit.
