Cliff Jacobson Uncensored

This is a continuation of our interview with Cliff. We just turned the camera on and let him go wild, talking about whatever he wanted to about canoe camping and camping gear! We’ll be adding more segments as we get time to put them together.

There’s some excellent in-depth advice given here.

Fun!
I really enjoyed watching and listening to Cliff after reading most if his canoe camping guides. Thanks for making these available to us.

We learn from our mistakes.
Cliff is a piece of work. Can you imagine being on a trip with him? I’d be afraid to say or do anything.

Truth is though that I have incorporated a lot of his thoughts in my tripping style. There is a lot of good stuff inside that head. I just wish he would mellow out a bit.

I’d love a clip where he talks about mistakes he has made on trips and how he managed to get out of some sticky situations he created himself by making a a mistake or three. We all learn from our mistakes.

Thoroughly enjoyed these. Thanks!
And for anyone who hasn’t met Mr. J, he’s a genuinely nice guy.

Thanks!
Altogether, that was a nice quick summary of a lot of basic stuff. Well done.

I think he is kidding
In part 4 he dehydrates beans right out of the can! Hey I can buy already dried beans in a bag for a lot less.

I wonder how much of the other stuff is a joke.

I can think of one possible reason.

He's talking about camping food, which most people want to be quick and easy. Canned beans, whatever variety you choose, are already cooked, and usually seasoned too. Thus, they qualify as instant food, whether still in the can or dried and then re-hydrated. I'm anything BUT a cooking expert, but it seems to me the prep time for raw, dry beans is pretty long. Usually there's lots of soaking time prior to cooking, then lots of cooking time, right? Maybe I'm wrong, but that's what I've seen done by people who know more about cooking than I.

You’re welcome!
I’m glad you enjoyed it!

We had a great time with Cliff that day.

We’re always looking for ideas on what films to produce that would help or entertain paddlers.

If you have any ideas or suggestions please don’t hesitate to tell us. You can post your ideas here or through a private email, either way it will be much appreciated.
