Hey folks, just bought a new Chinook 100 from Aquaglide and am having some Problems. Inflating the floor has been an issue for sure. Using an electric pump and a hand pump but still feel it’s losing some air overtime. The bigger problem however is the cockeyed floor. The seats don’t line up with the Velcro strips. I’ll attach pics… thanks.
You can see that the two big tubes are rotated which shifts the floor to the side. I don’t know about inflatables, but could you try attaching the seat to the Velcro before inflating the tubes?
Velcro comes in rolls with sticky backs. Seen at ACE Hardware and Home Depot. You can add more. I often find it doesn’t stick and stay to flexing floors and might need additional glue. I use contact cement. Test on non essential fabric first.
Everything I have that inflates leaks down after time. Might check the seams with soapy water spray.
Hope you paid the 199 and not the 499 or 279 prices.
It looks like the floor is not inflated in that picture. I think the floor should center itself if everything is inflated in order. But if those velcro strips aren’t centered on the floor then it’s defective and should go back to Aquaglide.
Thanks everyone for the responses. Getting the floor fully inflated has been a problem. The floor states 1 lb psi but that doesn’t come close to full inflation so I went to 2 lbs psi and then hand pumped a bit…. Also put the seat in before pumping. Big help… Aquaglide is sold out of all kayaks as they’re merging with BOTE… SO, THIS IS THE KAYAK! does anyone know about the BOTE brand?
So it’s a low pressure floor. If you pump up the floor to 1 psi first, then pump up the side tubes after the floor, does the floor end up centered? If the kayak doesn’t inflate symmetrically and the floor is off-center, then return it if you can because the imbalance may make it pull towards one side when paddling. If the floor is centered but the velcro strips are not, then you probably need a new floor to make it right, but you might be able to live with it as is.
Rotate 180 degrees ?
