I think it is comfortable to wear. At least to me. I tried a lot of different ones and this one just felt right.
I can’t comment on durability as it is only one year old. As far as slim……my personal belief, and others may disagree, I will sacrifice slimness for better flotation. With that said I think it is on par with most others out there.
I think it breaths well, at least as much as one can. The more I wear it the less noticeable it becomes in the hot weather.
I will say that after one season, if I were to buy another pfd would buy it again
I was all set to go with the Astral EV-8 because of numerous recommendations just like yours and I liked the way looked design wise, I mean if I was going to pay $150 for a PFD I wanted to get something recommended. Then @rstevens15 mentioned Stohlquist is going out of business, didn’t seem important at the time, then I realized there may be deep discounts on Amazon because of it on a high quality PFD. That has happened to me before when Helly Hansen discontinues a model. So I found a Stohlquist Edge and a Trekker for $99 and $85, bought them both and will try and decide which one to keep.
Thanks

Why do you need an inflatable to swim?
Thanks

She loves her hustler PFD
Architects are totally gone since they started with computers . Click, drag, paste, with no thought. Projects littered with errors. Jones Beach job 55 million plus has been filled with errors between different types of architects involved in project. Simple mistakes where 0"-0’ is finished floor for steel contractor and -16" for masonry contractor. I knew it would resurface somewhere and be a problem. Load bearing masonry and structural steel job combination. Steel comes they start to set steel joist and beams but masonry is to low or steel is to high take your pick . They had to stop the steel crew, remove the crane, cut all the steel columns off site and return a week later. All while project is severely behind summer opening. Have to find a picture of it.
But how does that drive you crazy, don’t you own one too? I can’t figure that out.
Look, I don’t know how much you know about bikes, but finding the right bike for you personally and for what you are going to be using it for is absolutely crucial. Makes all the difference in the world. Take your time, if you are lucky find an old school bike shop or get on Bike Forum and find the stand up guys that know what they are talking about. The best exercise for adults, bar none.
Bought a trek road bike couple of grand. Haven’t used it much after covid and return to work.
She complained about other PFD jackets at least 4 probably 5. So I wanted her to be happy paddling.
I got the Hustler R then she got the Hustler. She hasn’t been paddling lately tending to our aging dogs.
Okay, you know more about bikes then I thought, a Trek ain’t playing, I hope it fits you, the fit is just absolutely essential for good riding and overlooked by a lot of cyclists. What kind of tires do you have on it? But all of this does no good unless you get on the darn thing, do a sun up or a sun down thing before supper, your whole system will thank you for it.
I think I understand now, she drove you nuts trying to find a PFD she liked. Four or five? That must have gotten expensive. Good thing you lay a lot of bricks. But why did you pay all that money for a Hustler Rescue?
You wanted me to “ Keep them both.” Them suckers are $85-$99 apiece.
A family that paddles together stays together.
This is what you have to do when you buy a bike that does not fit, but I got it originally for $100.
Thanks

Not rescue belt. Restraining belt to keep it from rising up when in water. Pfds tend to rise up to around your face.
But this belt is particular on the “Hustler Rescue Vest”…why?
Thanks

MY POINT EXACTLY
Good point about the computers, I knew where Architects were at, but I didn’t realize what put them there. If you are ever in New Orleans, God Forbid, take a drive through the “Brad Pitt Development” in the Lower Nine and take a look what “Renowned Architects “ from around the world did. They actually had to tear down a number of the houses because of moisture intrusion and they spent, are you ready for this, an average of $500,000 per house. The rest of the development is not far behind.
I don’t understand what 0’ 0”” and -16” floor is, please explain.
Thanks
mjac
Damn boy, you are cooking, you must lay a lot of bricks. I hope they fit you properly, I really do. A lot of people are riding bikes that don’t fit them, moi included. Get yourself a good set of aero bars, you will thank yourself…Again, what tires are you using?
Okay, but what is it about the Hustler Rescue makes it better for a rescue, I mean the thing costs almost $300, well $300 with tax, what are you getting for all that money? And don’t give me a computer answer. I like my Amazon Stohlquists for $85-$99.
500 Corduroy vs. 300 or 350 material. Quick release rescue belt with stainless ring , bit heavier construction. Regular one is great also.
0"-0’ is usually height of main finished floor on building plans. All trades measure off it for there construction installations.
So structural drawings for all steel fabrication was off finished floor. Hence 16" discrepancy between drawings.
Architectural and structural drawings we used took it from 16" below finished floor which is very unusual. We inquired about it and we’re told to use it . So engineer ending up eating the huge mistake.
Bought bike at trek store so it fits great. Great staff also. Tires are what came with it. I bought light weight tubes but never installed them yet. May get carbon rims as it is all rotating mass.
Trek Domane AL carbon forks Aluminum frame. Probably get new all carbon framed bike if I have time for it.
What do I have to do, pull this out of you with a pair of pliers? Why do all of these features make the vest better for a rescue. A rescue is a rescue, what does the vest have to do with it? It’s worth $300?
I was going to ask you again but I “think” I figured it out. The steel and structural drawings were took off the finished floor, 0’ 0”, and the masonry drawings were taken from -16”.
YOU MEAN YOU INQUIRED ABOUT THIS IN ADVANCED TO A PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER AND HE TOLD YOU TO USE IT ?…UNFREAKINGBELIEVABLE.
I was going to tell you to get some Continental Gator Skin Hardshells, the best tire for urban riding hands down, bar none, I have a pair, but I looked on their website and couldn’t find them, they may have been discontinued. I messaged them to see if they were and/or anything took their place. I am glad you found a good shop, a shop can make you waste a lot of money. Get a pair of GOOD Aero Bars, nothing cheap, your nose depends on it. My freaking handlebar bracket broke, after I stupidly modified it, and put me in the hospital. I still have a Hypertrophic Scar I am trying to get rid of after two years.
Edit: They still make the Gator Skins, I was looking in the wrong category. If you absolutely hate flats, best urban tire in the world.
Thanks
mjac
PS: You mean AZZPLODE CRABON FORKS?
You better stick with the clique, maybe they will think this is cogent thought.
If you have something factual to say, instead of broad generalizations and personal remarks, go right ahead and we will take it from there.
Thanks
mjac
Flat is easy to fix on the road. I want light tires less rotating mass.
That was you in the first video? Damn good looking fella, looks like the weight loss served you well. You love them, your partner loves them, but not knowing anything about them or had them on, I don’t like the way they look on the surface. They are designed to have this large pouch right in the middle of your belly, that just looks awkward. It reminds me of the vests seaman and dock workers wear which is all straps and these two flotation pods front and back. I could be dead wrong, but that is how it looks to me. Got my Stohlquists coming baby.
Did I get the floor elevations right? What were the consequences of starting the masonry grade 16” below the finished floor grade?
Not me baby, I will sacrifice rolling mass all day long to prevent a flat. I can’t stand them and in this city getting a flat is damn dangerous. I would end up having to kill somebody.
Thanks
mjac
Detailed explanation of “rescue PFD”. Probably would be more accurate to call them “rescuer PFDs”, since they are what is the standard for river guides and enable safer rescue efforts by the individuals wearing them.
You might check this one out. I have found it to be very comfortable wearing it for 8 or9 hours at a time, but we do not deal with high humidity here in the West.
