I would like some suggestions on cookbooks for camping/backpacking/canoing. These foods should involve mostly dried food types, but could include other (fresh, etc) types also. Thanks for suggestions of book to consider.

Here it is

"Simple Foods for the Pack"

We’re talking about this in -
Paddler’s Place, sharing recipes.

Backpacking Recipes work well
The goal here is typically to have food that (depending on the length of the trip):

  1. Is Preservable for the length of your trip
  2. Packs light
  3. Provides enough nutrition
  4. tastes good

To that end, the wife and I have found that backpacking cookbooks are more plentiful than kayak-specific ones and have recipes that mostly fit the above criteria. We have these books and recommend them:

Lipsmackin’ Backpackin’: Lightweight Trail-tested Recipes for Backcountry Trips

Backpack Gourmet: Good Hot Grub You Can Make at Home, Dehydrate, and Pack for Quick, Easy, and Healthy Eating on the Trail

    The Well-Fed Backpacker

I’ll second that one…
and I have all the others mentioned in this thread.

Not only a great cookbook for the paddler but excellent material regarding prep , drying, and storing.

I do not believe in compromising my feed sessions when paddling!

Pleasant waters.
