Cracks in the epoxy joint?

Please advise on how to solve this problem.

Mine is a Necky Elaho HV composite of only 3 months old!

There is cracks in the epoxy joints behind the cockpit and water leaks into the chamber behind. The wall partition is intact. There seems to be no deformation of the hull yet.

  1. Should I just remove the seal and apply some new material?
  2. What is that sealing material? Is it epoxy? Where can I get it?
  3. Is this a common problem? Or am I the unlucky one to pick a defective boat?

    Thank you for your advice.

This doesn’t answer your question, but
I would call the manufacturer and ask for their advice.

I am guessing that Epoxy would be the answer, and also Marine Goop would probably work, but that is strictly a guess.

3 mo old. Why you fix’n it? Warranty??!!

I am having a hard time understanding why you are trying to fix a problem that should be fixed under the warranty. If you do fix it and something happens later you may not have any warranty as you messed with the boat voiding the warranty. :^(

Am I missing something, where it is best for you to fix it and not seek coverage under the warranty?

sounds like a defect
from Necky. That should be Necky’s problem, not yours.

Warranty
What the others said, it’s a warranty thing.

Slathering epoxy or any other goop on top of a crack will not repair the crack, it will simply cover it up. The crack will still be there, and will very likely grow.

Do not let Necky get away with a “cover it up” repair. I would push for a new boat.
