Anyone know what CFS release at the dam is safe for kayak fishing?
Ask the locals, but it doesn’t look safe for small boats with motors, never mind a small human powered kayak.
Good luck,
The closest NOAA gauge appears to be in Burkesville, maybe 30 miles down stream. You can see that the flow fluctuates massively every day according to electrical demand; rises and drops will be a lot quicker right at the dam. https://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv?03414100
When we were houseboating 4th of July mid day 25 years ago it was low and slow. If you don’t like the water level when you get there, wait an hour or two and it might double or halve. IIRC a warning siren goes off when they release.
Thanks for the information!
