A red Pamlico 140 -

Greetin’s fro’ Fort Collins

The mountains rose up 'cross the Fort Collins Plain,
the young Pami Rider shan’t ever be the same!
It’s time to Cache la Poudre cuz a river through him runs,
Boy’s joys with toys has jumped his boat - he’s been distracted by his gun!

The one you just bought. P140 are aka Plastic Krugers.

Red ones are faster than yellow ones…

I wonder what he is up to these days? He should be in his twenties by now! Young Robert, where fore art thou?

Here he is pictured in the link below…
(Doesn’t get out on the ol’ P140 much these days as I understand it, although I’m sure he can now afford a fleet load of 'em.) --And who sez the old pnet is dead???

How does any kayaker deal with waves of 16.5 feet (other than getting off the water)?

Could be swells that they are referring to. I’ve been on the ocean prior to a hurricane and large swells are the precursor to the hurricane. Open seas can develop large swells.

I suspect a combination of the two…

  1. The deep water swells had a nice low frequency so wave tops were farther apart and they “gently” went up hill and down hill on a not so steep grade. (no breaking wave tops)
  2. Conditions in many stories get worse as time goes on. For example my 1 ft wind waves this weekend will be 5 ft breaking seas by meeting time in early March.

Just go with the flow…

What are all those dark shapes sticking out of the water at the bottom of the photo? Shark fins?

I’m not a west-coaster, but to me it looks like it could be bull kelp (yeah, I know - that took all the fun out of it).

Upon closer inspection…
