Deck compass yellowing and darkening

Hi,
I have a Brunton 70p compass deck compass, a few years old. The printing on the compass ball started yellowing and now the glass had turned dark. My previous compass on an earlier kayak did not do this. The kayak is covered with a tarp in the summer and stored in a heated garage in the winter. It’s discontinued and past warranty.

Any advice??

Round file it. The things you list are not fixable is my guess.

Is it the same as Silva p70

I was able to polish out my scuffed and hard to read compass with Meguiers Cleaner Wax. I also replaced the fluid with mineral spirits. Is the darkening the bulb or the internal fluid?
