On the gender thing - when I am in practical clothing I not infrequently get called sir from someone taking a quick glance. My hair is quite short, and I look lousy in women’s hats but traditional guys’ hats work well for me. When they take a closer look the apology comes, but I am fine with being confusing.
As to the draped women thing, I seem to recall ads for skis or ski resorts from that era in which some young thing was wearing a bathing suit or very short shorts at a ski run in the Rockies on a sunny spring day. It wasn’t just warm weather activities.
Schuylkill there is a Dolphin canoe around here… It is tethered to a dock and sitting on the bottom of the still river its dock is on… Each year its filled with more and more algae… I wonder how much weight it has in it aside from the weight of the canoe! Clearly its not loved…
Probably doesn’t mean anything, since canoes in general have been more common on the used market here. Might be simply because all the cool people suddenly want to move to here and then switch to kayaks.

Beautiful work.
I missed this thread 1st time around.
These days, the dolphins I paddle with are below the surface, 37 years ago it was:
.- - -
summer of '83
1st watercraft I owned (my 1st season in Minnesota) was a Dolphin Princess
weighed a ton (around 70#)
only kept a season
replaced with Wenonah Advantage at less the 1/2 the weight and a tad faster http://www.yakabout.us/kayak_photos/Dolphin.jpg
I found this group while searching for info/advertising on the Dolphin canoe manufactured in Wabasha, MN. My family bought one new back in the early 70s and we spent many great days on Lake Pepin just up river from Wabasha and I’m in the process of rebuilding it for this summer. What sold my parents & brothers on the Dolphin were two reasons: One it would not compleletly sink due to the decks were filled with styrofoam and it was manufactured locally. It was very stable on the open water & waves of Lake Pepin.
I’m interested in this/ or any other Dolphin ad, logo, ect. that anyone would have available.
Hello,
I just purchased a Canoe and I am looking for more information about it. I am not sure if this is made by the same company but the logo says Dolphin. Its quite unique I can not find anything on the net like it. It is perfect for this beginner with small children. Would appreciate any Insights that you all may have. Thanks.
I love your curvy Dolphin Canoe! I too have a Dolphin Product. It’s the 50 Quart Multipurpose Storage Bin that Clamps On Your Canoe. They go together. They used to be located and made in Wabasha, Minn. 55981 ~ U.S.A.
It’s listed here for sale. It would look great in your canoe! Below is the link to my listing.
