Edisto River SC -level ?

Does anyone know what the level of the Edisto river near Orangeburg, SC is compared to what it was last year at this time?

Wondering how many logs we are going to climb over on Saturdays paddle?

Cheers,

JackL

Is the Blackwater River Race
happening this weekend?

At Givhans
it’s about 3 feet (2.97 to be exact). I’m not sure why it’s so low - we had quite a lot of rain upstate recently.

Yes , Randy , it is.

Yes, will we see you there ?
give me a shout if you want more info.

cheers,

JackL

I already have that, but I am trying to
find out how that relates to the level that it was at this time last year.

Last year we had plenty of water along with the climb over logs and sweepers.

While you are there
If you haven’t tried eat , be sure to get some Dukes

Barbcue.

Where is it ?
Usually after a hard race both “the bride” and I crave a “fat burger” and that is the one time we allow ourselves to indulge, and a big old plate of barbecue might be just the ticket to replenish all our engine oil depletion !

JackL

Dukes is in the thriving metropolis
of Ridgeville. Outstanding BBQ and vegetables; all you can eat $8.00. It is about 10 minutes from Givhan’s Ferry.

OK, so where is that in relation to.
Orangeburg?

I don’t want to drive all over SC looking for my “fat burger” !

JackL

About 43 miles south. You can get
what you are looking for in O’berg or Columbia. Maurice’s and Millender’s are close to I-26 in Columbia.

What I am looking for is the level
vs. what it was at this time last year!

The chow is secondary.

Last year, as I recall, we were in a
severe drought.Something like 150 cfs.A channel down the middle of the river.

Here you go:

Most recent value was 392, so looks like it’s up from last year.

Not sure how you arrived at that, but
at Givhans it is currently 2.93.

I just can’t figure out what it was last year

I guess we will find out in real time in another few hours - gotta go, it’s a long drive

Thanks for trying though,

JackL

On that website,

you can check the "real time" flow, and compare with last year's May reading.
Did you copy and paste all of that into the address bar? I just tried it, and it works.
Good luck, have fun.

At the top, where it says"available data" scroll down to "real time." You can get the whole chart for Givhans, too, but I thought you wanted Orangeburg.

Thanks,
I did just want it at Orangeburg, but we never could find it in Previous years, so just used the Givhans one.

The level turned out great and the river was fun.

hey
how was the race? I was up ay Jocassee its still way low!!!

8.25 miles of switchbacks, logs,
sweepers and lots of blockage, but one of the most fun races you could do.

This was our seventh year, and it was the first year that we didn’t make any mistakes.

Loved every minute of it, and we even won a prize in the drawing.

cheers,
