looking for advice on the edisto river …live in toronto ontario …will be in philly the 1st week in october …is it worth the drive to kayak on the edisto river for 8 days …looking for great scenery ,good primitive campsites ,fishing ,swimming ,and a good wilderness experience …the other alternative might be the adirondaks …last year kayked the roanke in north carolina and enjoyed that…or any other suggestions …thanks stan
Edisto River
I paddled the Edisto from Orangberg to somewhere around I-95 about 10years ago. It was a very senic river and as best as I can recall, relatively un-developed. I think it took us 3 days to do that section(we took out below the power plant at some state park) You may want to add the section above Orangeberg, which is a canoe trail, that is Thirty plus miles long. If you go this time of year, beware of the sand gnats, and mosquitos!
