I have one of Ed’s Canoe kid side-by-side seats that I would like to install in my Wenonah Itasca. Eds instructions suggest replacing the portage yoke with the seat, but I would like to leave the yoke in place.
My thoughts were to install the kids seat a few inches (~4") in front of the portage yoke and then flip the portage yoke around, so the boat will be carried backwards. I know that this might cause a balance issue(while carrying), but the boat isn’t balanced that great as it is.
Does this sound like a good idea? Any better ideas for placement?
Seeking advice before I drill some permanent holes in those beautiful gunwales.
Thanks!

use c-clamps
to temporarily attach your carrying yoke where you would like to move it and give it a try.
