Establishing paddling site Eel River at existing RV park at Rio Dell

I own [Rivers Edge RV Park] (https://www.rervpark.com/) at the wide spot on the Eel River at Rio Dell Ca. I have over 8 acres of river front property. Only 1/3 is reserved for RV spaces. The Great Redwood Trail passes right by the entrance to the park on Davis street. It is being built as we speak. There is over 1/4 mile of shore line and over 5 acres of beautifully maintained river bar that I want to develop for river activities. Soon, by 2026 the headwater dams will be torn down to revive the Eel to its natural state. I need advice and possibly marketing for the park and also for the frisbee course. Open to any and all suggestions.

Sounds like an abundance of riches…

Just run it honestly and they will come.

Reach out to the American Canoe Association regional (Regional Activity Council (RAC) - ACA) & maybe local clubs. Also American Whitewater (https://www.americanwhitewater.org/content/River/view/river-detail/184/main) Rio Dell is listed as a takeout for a class II run. I doubt if either will do marketing for you but you might help with access & maybe events.

Check out the Jackson sit on top, a very popular rental choice for ease of paddling, self rescue, and durability. if you buy a fleet they have been known to give discounts.

Are Jacksons a descent boat? I thought they were Dick’s Sporting Goods, “LifeTime” entry level boats. I paddled a LifeTime, I would not wish that on my worst enemy.

Well the company has been sold but they still continue to make solid boats (plastic)with lighter outfitting frequently their competitors. They are very popular with the ww play boat crowd. The rental boat I suggested is widely used by liveries in the southern us.

So they are descent, I didn’t know. I knew they made some fishing kayaks. Let’s see, Jackson has been sold, Jackson bought Edyline, Edyline is being moved from Mexico to Sparta Tn., Jackson’s manufacturing center, the Fathom may be discontinued…hard to keep up.
