Experience with Brača Hurricane paddles for sea touring?

While Brača’s racing, surfski and slalom paddles are well known and acclaimed, there isn’t much review or thoughts on their sea touring line of paddles, such as the Typhoon or the Hurricane! Would be grateful if anyone can relate their experiences or thoughts on them if they’ve had tried them, perhaps on the following points if possible:

  • your paddling style (high angle or low angle);
  • shaft stiffness and length used;
  • ferrule stiffness and reliability;
  • robustness in terms of long term use;
  • design and feel (flutter, swing weight, long distance use etc);
  • how does it feel in dynamic strokes, like rudders, braces, rolls;
  • how does it feel in comparison with other brands like Werner, Aquabound, VE, etc

Thank you so much in advance!

Only thing that I do not like is the shaft diameter.
I would prefer a thicker and oval one.

Wow, thank you so much for your detailed reply! May I ask what’s your height (so that I get a sense of the proportion for the paddle length). This sounds like my experience with other Braca paddles I’ve tried–incredibly reliable to the point it’s boring for the lack of ‘exoticness’–down to the dislike of the lack of oval/indexing in the shaft haha… (although having smaller hands really makes me appreciate their narrower shaft). Thanks again!

length  182 cm |   6 feet
weight   68 kg | 150 lb

My hands are relatively big, I think.
Also my feather angle is controlled with my left hand,
so I removed the right hand control ‘handle’ on the shaft.
