Unfortunately, our rural internet is so slow that it’s very difficult to look at these threads now. One pic will download slowly, more than one and it’s up to 5 minutes waiting.

Lows Lake, ADKs

An incredible shot, leaving mind to ponder over the timeless hydrological forces that carved this uniquely terraced and slotted rock sluiceway. And to ask what names are bestowed upon this river and this rapid? I know not either, but can supposition in prose as to the latter:

With crocodile smile,
the lower jaw,
drinks in upriver
to the threatening maw,
giant jagged teeth,
sieve through their slots,
geronimo guppies
boofing hell’s hot spot,
so say your peace,
and brace sooner than later,
it’s alimentary slingshot
through the Gulpin’ Gator!

Excellent poem. The exposed rock is 1.5 billion years old (amongst the oldest exposed bedrock on Earth). St. Louis River through Jay Cooke State Park just south of Duluth, MN.
