The 18x technically has a much smaller front hatch (~30L). The Rockpool Menai 18 has similar volume (though some of this is due to a larger cockpit) to the Taran, but a large oval hatch in the bow. The Rockpool GT is also in the midst of a redesign and may be worth looking into.
