Fast is fun
Taking a boat that’s long and skinny and designed to turn paddle strokes into forward speed efficiently and making it do just that is a lot of fun, especially running downwind offshore but even when you’re just cranking out a nice clean V on flat stuff. It’s not the only fun thing, and IMHO it’s kind of silly to obsess about which touring boat is a little faster or a little slower–they’re all pickups, not sports cars–but paddling fast is fun the same way that running fast or cycling fast is fun.
