does anyone know where to find these in the northwest? I’m talking the real deal–narrow, short, light, skin (or fake skin) on frame–just like greenlanders have used for thousands of years to hunt seals. I’d like to try one. thanks.

Although not in Seattle, I’d recommend that you contact Brian Schulz of Cape Falcon kayak in Manzanita Oregon ( http://www.capefalconkayak.com/ ) or Harvey Golden in Portland, Oregon ( http://traditionalkayaks.com/ ). Both build excellent replicas of historical Greenland kayaks.
Both of these builders are frequent posters to the QUSA (Greenland-kayaking) forum.
