I am looking to up my fishing game. I do a lot of sight fishing in Florida and like to stand. Been thinking of ideas on how to install a grab post/rail. Has anyone done this before?
What kayak do you have (make and model)?
Might be easier to just go out and buy a kayak made for stand up fishing that comes with everything you need.

A cut-down custom 14’ Allagash Canoe. Its 36’ wide and I can easily stand an paddle, pole and cast. Gets a little sketchy setting a hook or fighting a large fish, especially when it breaks off.
14’ Native Slayer which I can stand but its more narrow and not as stable as the canoe. I have inflatable stabilizers but using them turns it into a slow barge that isn’t that fun to paddle.
12’ Ocean Kayak Big Game II. Can also stand but the foot space is terrible so its not on play.
I am pretty handy. Been a maker for decades and am real comfortable with wood, metal, fiberglass etc. But I am a big fan of buy over build because I got enough unfinished projects HA! But the few items out there are not for my boats and are several hundered dollars. Plus they are not what I am looking for exactly. I want a thigh height leaning post like you see in the river boats that fly anglers use in Trout country.
