I stay in site of land because my yak is not a true sea kayak. I know people who paddle out of site of land to fish but in my opinion that’s asking for trouble. If fog rolls in and you get lost your in deep trouble with no one around. I have the usual safety equipment such as a deck compass , VHF and now a GPS. No fish is worth taking a risk of your life. Just my .02 FishHawk
