As the spring paddling season approaches, it’s not too early to make plans for instruction and good times. There will be several freestyle symposiums during the spring/summer. Although the symposiums are an excellent place to learn freestyle technique, they are really all about learning boat control or as Tom Mackenzie puts it “Obedience Classes for Your Canoe”. The first of the season’s symposiums is LaLou, just outside of New Orleans and it will be held the 1st weekend in April. Below is a reposting taken from the freestyle message board (www.freestylecanoeing.com). It was originally posted by John Steib, the sponser of the event.
Ready for some soft water, warm air, Cajun cuisine, and an early warm-up for the 08 paddling season? If so, come on down to La Lou Canoe Symposium, April 4, 5, & 6, 2008 in Mandeville, La. You can go to the website at laloucanoe.com for all info and registration forms. See ya in April.

Speaking as one who has attended the last four or five LaLous, I whole heartedly recommend it. The instruction is always 1st rate, the company superb, along with fine Cajun hospitality and food. What a great way to start off the season.

Looking forward to it
as always. Warm water, good food, great instruction and good friens make for a great time.
wish I could
it is a shame, another year that I cannot afford the trip. This summer i am going to do the big family vacation to Florida. My lovely future wife, her children, her mom and I are going to to visit her brother. Big money, so the freestyle stuff is on hold. I will be lucky to be back at the Midwest Symposium (remember me, long hair, Red WeNoNah Solo Plus with the flotation bags).
See you all later!

We got our "Mark Your Calendar" notification yesterday from Tom at Loon Works. That sets some of our vacation plans for the summer!
It does seem sort of cruel to make the registration forms available on the same day that taxes are due.
