Recently the paddling locations map, which Paddling.com (P.C) touts as having over 48,000 paddling locations, was reduced to listing 0 such locations, which remains the case.
I suspect that a significant percentage of the traffic to the website is associated with the locations map service and that a discontinuance of the service will eventually reduce the website’s attractiveness to advertisers.
At the minimum, for the benefit of shareholders and loyal users in the paddling community, I think some notice regarding the status of the service should be posted on the website.
Leaving things as they are will potentially lead many numbers of people to spend time troubleshooting a problem that is in no way related to them.
If anyone from P.C actually reads the Site Feedback forum it would be appreciated if you can reply to the following:
-
Has the paddling locations map been intentionally discontinued?
-
Is there some technical issue that is being addressed that will allow resumption of the service?
-
Is there any plan to restore access to the service on a subscription basis.
In my opinion the paddling locations map is a valuable resource to the paddling community. From my research there is no true alternate provider that matches the depth of information that was, until recently, available on P.C.
As such I think it would be a lost opportunity if the company pulled the plug on the service.
