Garmin is releasing 24k topographical mapping for the entire US. This mapping is being released as a regional product. The first region is “Northwest” and it includes Washington and Oregon. One nice feature is that the roads and trails in the mapping will be routable similar to City Navigator.
doesnt the USGS all ready do that?
They make maps, but you can’t put routable 24k topos on a Garmin unless Garmin compiles the data in the format they use.
This is good news, though. I guess I’ll be upgrading the memory in my 76CSx to accommodate the new mapping detail when they release my region.
