Glue to re-glue thigh pads?

My Dagger Meridian has thigh brace padding that is peeling off. Basically foam to plastic. What is a good glue for this?

Weldwoof Contact cement does a good job and only takes 30 minutes.
If you can wait a couple of days, Marine Goop is really good.

Thanks, I will take a look at those. They have been loose for a year now, every time I get in the boat I just have to flip them up so waiting a few days is nothing.

I used H2 on the thigh pads in my whitewater boat. It’s held up for a few years now, including pool use.

I used silicone adhesive for the thigh pads on my composite boat and those pads have been on there for 10 years. Aquaseal, or nitrile might be a good choice, but some of that stuff can be kind of expensive. The best price I have found on Aquaseal is at Lowes. I have also used silicone adhesive on my poly boats and it has never come loose.

I would not use any kind of contact cement of the sort that might be nearly impossible to remove if you need to in the future.

Weldwood contact cement residue is not all that difficult to remove if necessary and it is relatively inexpensive. You can get a 16 ounce can of it at Walmart for less than 5 1/2 bucks. It is what 99% of whitewater open boaters and kayakers use to glue foam into their boats. It holds quite well so long as there is no distractive force applied.

Silicone products can be problematic, as they leave a residue that can be a real pain to remove and nothing else will stick to it. With the wide variety of non-silicone products available, I don’t see the point in using anything with silicone in it.

Bnystrom, I know you’re right about the silicone, but at the time, it was handy and I had used it for a lot of applications in my work and never had a problem. If I had it to do again, I would use something else, but probably not a contact cement–at least not the kind I am familiar with.
Have you used Lexel to secure high density closed cell foam to composite suraces and isn’t Lexel the adhesive that is used to glue the bulkheads into poly boats?

Yes, Lexel is an excellent product for those purposes and my understanding is that it’s the adhesive/sealant of choice for several kayak manufacturers. I don’t use it a lot because I haven’t found it in except in large caulking-style tubes. If I could find it locally in 4-6 ounce tubes, I’d use it more.
