Full Kilt Boogie
The kayaker geared to the hilt
Did struggle and flounder in silt.
He made mental note,
“Should’ve brought the short boat.”
As he tripped on the neoprene kilt.

Pikabike, that one made me laugh out loud! Good one. I penned a related verse years ago to recite when our outing club roasted a good friend of mine, a hearty native of Glasgow who excelled in all of our adventure sports but especially the watery type.
Stuart the windsurfer thought
He should dress as befitted a Scot
So when the wind blows
Now everyone knows
If Scotsmen wear knickers or not.
Could be newbies out there. So, I tried to get my sons (when they were teens) into surfing and bought a couple of long boards. Wow… we tried to paddle out through 2’ waves and it was so hard. Just a whole different set of muscle usage and the flexibility required (arching one’s back while belly prone). Anyway, figured out the thing to do is to start from scratch and get used to paddling around with the surf board on flat water!
My intent with paddling the waveski around twice a week, even when flat, is to keep somewhat paddle ready and flexible enough that for when the hurricane swells come this summer (these always do, more or less).
