Eleven year old grand daughter graduated from her Perception Prodigy XS to a Tsunami SP. Didn’t need the rudder. Avg speed 2.71 mph, max speed 5.1 mph, distance 7.25 miles. Perfect training day.
Excellent! Looks like she had fun in those chops.

She loves chop.
Looks like she’s having a blast. I’ve been hanging on to an older Eddyline Skylark ('07 I think) for my now 10 yr old grand daughter. Maybe this is the year to get her out of her OT Heron Jr !
Oh, all you have to do is look at the smile on her face. She loves waves and blew through one that just lit her up. I tell her to go one mile further and pogress .1 mph per trip. She tracks straight without the rudder. Its nothing but a carnival show to them. Help them make the most of it. A grandparent has exclusive force to shape a child. Don’t let them down. They were goodly waves today. Help them to understand the beauty of conflicting forces so they value that sensation between pleasure and pain.
She’s awesome. I love the confident grin.
I remember putting 2 of my young nieces in a solo canoe for the first time and all I did was give them paddles that fit and a couple pointers and with one kneeling on the floor at each end of the boat they were the quickest boat on the lake within a few minutes.
That was a tough day for a young paddler in a new boat. The channel is full of wake from large fast moving power boats. Every time I looked back at her, she had that big grin. She’s using a 220cm Carlise paddle with a large blade area. It was the smallest paddle I own, except for a 91 sq inch, carbon shaft/nylon reinforced plastic blades, 240cm Sting Ray. I bought an Aqua Bound and a Werner Little Dipper, both 220 cm with 86 sq in blades; one for her and one for her sister. They didn’t like them. She mentioned her arms being sore this time out, so I offered the remedy of the other paddles. She said she’d like to try the smaller paddle again.
Great she looks at home and comfortable in the choppy stuff. When my son was her age it was just the beginning to moving on to BIGGER adventures, enjoy the journey.
One day she might be out there with Sing and the other surfers.
