Great Smoky Mountains campgrounds

Can anyone recommend a nice campground just outside of the Great Smoky Mountains National park, in the Gatlinburg, TN area?? I have only one tent, no RV, and it must have a bath house with showers. I would love to stay at the Great Smoky Mountains National Park campground, but for some reason they have no shower facilities; and I really don’t want to go a week without taking a shower.

Thank you,

Jeff

sorry I can’t recommend
a camp site. But it is pretty country, was there last year.

The perfect place…
if you like what we like, is Greenbrier Island Campground. It is roughly 15 minutes east of the center of Gatlinburg, on Rt. 321 going towards Cosby, near a little community called Pittman Center. It is a mom-and-pop type place, with more room to stretch out and fewer sites than most in the area. It sits on an island formed by two small branches of the stream, with a neat swimming hole where the river converges.

The owners are pretty particular about the place being peaceful. We witnessed them evict a group of rowdies during one of our stays. Decent bathrooms and showers, although the showers cost a very small fee when we were there last a couple years back (something like 25 cents for 5 minutes). Campsites are around $20 a night.

They don’t have a website that I know of, but contact information is on this link:

Email me if I can be of further assistance. Hope you enjoy your visit to the Smokies- they’re beautiful. Take care, Regan

Solar Shower
15 bucks, could solve your woes.
