Kayakmedic. Looking longingly at those temps. Tomorrow… The cat is stating warm, but also decided strangers were scarey a year after l got him. For no apparent reason.
Well, it was hot … but all in all pretty nice. Ruth & I spent three nights at the Glennbrook Yurt. That’s right on Portage/Hell Creek so it was easy to wander down & soak in the creek (~80 deg but still refreshing) and watch the boat traffic go by. I paddled up to meet the club at Bruin Lake & then we paddled to Hell for lunch. Had to wait a few minutes until the Hell Saloon opened. The food turned out to be good. A good crowd for the trip - 17 paddlers in 16 boats

A Solstice Unsolaced
Freon thieves rush through the tubing.
Beat coppers are starting to sweat.
Some speak to a cool front coming.
Tepid wishes at best seldom vet.
For when the dog days of summer come packing,
and trees in ghostly shades peel off their bark,
if you’re hounded to hell with gates unhinging.
dive in waters till there swims the wintry shark.
(Which we all eventually jump to spring life’s lark.)
Hey rival51, do you paddle with the Great Lakes Paddlers? I used to paddle with them when we lived in your area…I’ve been on Bruin Lake many times.
Here in SW Michigan the weather people got pretty near hysterical over the heat. Young reporters interviewed in the early morning saying “it’s really hot!”. TV announcers recommending 4 bottles of water per hour. Weather people telling us to hang on and the heat will break in two days. Finally some weather announcer pointed out that it’s really not too bad, just a bit warmer than we are used to in this area.
Rookie - Lake Michigan water temps in the 70’s down here.

It’s sad when “bottles” has become an accepted volumetric dimension.

Little Traverse Buoy and White Shoal Light reporting 68.2 water temp. Yay!
Weekend forecast: sunny and 74/57F. Haven’t paddled Sturgeon Bay since my first outing in April. Need to see it again, but without ice.

Tom, I’m mostly with LOAPC (Lansing Oar And Paddle Club) but am often out with some of the Great Lakes Paddlers. I also help out at the WMCKA symposium over Memorial day weekend. I haven’t had time to paddle much with them though. I can’t keep up with the LOAPC trips.
At lake wissota , Wis it was 58 at sun up and 90 on the truck at the baot ramp at 2pm take out. Not that bad with a breeze.
just wait until your FL acclimated skin decides to take a dip in mid 50’s Lake Superior when you get up there
I’ll never forget hopping into Lake Ontario as a child. It was a very short hop.

You are absolutely correct.
