How good is a Zaveral recreational

You old geezers
crack me up! Still, I just want to be like you when I grow up.

My Zavs have taken a beating. I broke my first on the 2003 Lumber race trying to pole through one too many “short-cuts” which cost us at least 30-45 mins and allowed Jack & Nancy to gloat over having skunked us. Sent it to Jim Genkos at J & J Canoes for a quick fix (very reasonable repair costs!). Then just prior to the 2005 Adirondack 90 miler, I lost my new Outrigger Powersurge to the dreaded tailgate crusher. Fed-Exed it up to J & J again and picked it up in Old Forge at the start of the race. I’m a firm believer now that a repaired Zav is better than the original. In fact any of you out there who want to get rid of your pieces of former Zavs, just send them to me. I’m sure I can swing a volume discount from J & J, or at least keep them on retainer.
