Purely to answer the question, for every 1% increase in total weight (boat + people + gear) you are about 0.2% slower.
Assuming a total weight of 220lbs then 5lbs is 2.2333%. That ends up being 83 seconds per hour at 6 mph.
Most of us donāt care about 80 seconds at full effort, but if you lost the last race by 78 seconds thatās money well spent
