How to ensure floatation bags will stay?

We have a couple of OT Loon 111’s in our family of boats and have purchased, from OT, bow and stern floatation bags for them.

They do not fit perfectly and usually I prefit them for length in the needed area, fold the pointed end over, tape this with duct tape, inflate them a bit, place them in the needed area and finish inflation.

My concern is that if someone goes over in these boats while using the bags will they stay in position? I’m not sure if this is how it should be done, but if anyone has other suggestions on how to ensure these will stay in place, I would like to hear your ideas.

Thanks in advance for all the advice.

Tie them in
Float bags need to be secured in place. On your kayak you can attach the bow float bag to the bolts that hold the footbrace brackets. You can take the bolt out and loop some nylon twine around it or tie on to one of the unused holes in the bracket. The stern is difficult. I had to drill out one of the rivets for the deck rigging and replace it with a bolt, nut and washer. It was easy to attach a nylon loop under the washer. Hope this helps.
