how to ship a canoe

What are some options to ship a canoe from the midwest to the east coast? Any experience out there?

Ive had a 17 ft canoe shipped from Michigan to Salt Lake about 6 years ago via Roadway Trucking. It cost about 250 bucks. Most trucking companies do this.

Put an add in the local paper and or Paddling.net regarding someone who may be driving back there etc.
