I have 1" square crossbars on the roof of my car, held on with u-bolts. The nuts stick up approx 1/2" above the bar. If needed, I could modify the mounting so only 1/4" sticks up. So, my question: How much clearance is there between the Hullavator and the top of the crossbars? If I have to buy new crossbars to use with the Hullavator, then it’s probably not gonna happen. Thanks.
As a Hullavator owner, I don’t see a workable solution without new crossbars. The Hullavator ‘receiver’ fits flat on the crossbar. But there are some cleverer people on the forum, so maybe someone will come up with a solution.
Not a Hullivator owner, but I suggest if you need more clearance use a metal plate with two flat head bolts countersunk so they are flush with the top of the bar. I can make a sketch if you don’t follow my explanation.
As above, has to be flat.Unless you add a wood bar on top of that to which the Hullivator could go, but that does not sound like a good idea to me. Also question whether the clip that holds the inside part of the cradle would dwork so well without properly mated bars.
There are two alternate systems from Malone that may be more flexible, They have a Jstyle and a Hull Down Load Assist system.

I follow. I already had that as a backup plan if needed.
Find a Thule 450 Crossroad Foot pack on CL, FB marketplace or eBay and ditch the u-bolts. Then proceed to Hullivate

I found some. Will they fit on a 1" square tube?
They will clamp onto most anything up to @3”-4” diameter.

I think my question may have been poorly written. I wasn’t asking what the feet will clamp on to. I meant what cross bar will fit into the foot. Will a 1" x 1" square tube fit into the 450 Crossroad foot? Thanks.
Only fits Thule Crossbar square bar dimensions.

Thanks…I appreciate your help.
Looks like I won’t be buying Hullavator.
