Ack, don’t encourage me. I’ve added 4 kayaks to the fleet in the past 3 years and have yet to even put the 18’ composite Northwest Discover (barn salvaged last year for $300 needing only a hatch strap repair and new bungee lines) into the water.
A Tsu 145 would be a useful loaner for my chonkier friends, though. But I already enable too many of them in not equipping themselves with their own boats and kit.
And it might have to be decontaminated: being sold in the the local toen that had that disastrous freight train derailment this year where the railroad opted to set fire to tankers full,of chemicals that caused the place to have to be evacuated.
Oohhh! Just thinking it’s a good buy for a paddler in the 200 to 230 range, not for you. I bought a 140 for my daughters to use and a 145 for their husbands, my son or my friends to accompany me.
This is a time of year I tend to scout the local classifieds because people are starting to clear out their garages before winter and there a good deals to be had on boats they are trying to unload. Spotted a CD Gulfstream for $450 and a pair of kayaks (a 15’ Brooklyn ruddered sea kayak and a 12’ Elie Strait, $250 each or $400 for both). But did not expect to see a 2-piece canoe ($150, for anyone tempted):
