I realize I’m no longer enjoying this forum

Thank you, Rookie. By my count about 1/4 of the posts in this thread are relevant to the topic, which is better than many threads on here these days.

Thanks to everyone who understands that this issue is real and responded to it.

NPMB was great. I think Facebook led to it’s demise, particularly the Where’s the WW at forum…oh well, life goes on for some of us.

How’s it going Matt? Good to hear from you.

I only joined a few days ago. But, the ads on the screen bottom are maddening. I tape a piece of paper across my screen’s bottom and increase my text size to illuminate the side bar adds. If I couldn’t block those ads in some way I wouldn’t bother with the site at all.

I use Ad Blocker. Works very well on my iPad.

I use AdBlock+ as a Chrome extension on a PC. Works very well although a few other websites require you to turn it off temporarily to browse them.

I was about to give up on Paddle.com as well. The animated ads were not only extremely annoying but they were using GBs of memory and slowing everything down if the site was left open for a while. They must be doing something wrong because no other site with ads did this.

Rather they were in a side bar…Reading something, hate when ads cover an article you are reading.

So I can only read the pcom forum on my laptop but am unable to log in and thus can only respond to threads on my phone. I probably need to learn to use text to speech to facilitate this. So I’m more annoyed at the technical aspect of using the forum.

When I joined the forum I was looking for a wider cross section and multiple viewpoints on paddling. That’s one of the things I’ve enjoyed the most about this group. I have met and paddled with some wonderful individuals and while their style may vary somewhat from my own it’s been quite enjoyable.

I readily admit to doing some dumb stuff on the water. None of us needs each other’s permission to do dumb stuff. When people ask for advice I think we should give good advice. Why shouldn’t personal safety be a persistent and revisited theme?

I feel blessed to have paddled with doug, pat, rich and tom. That’s not even acknowledging all the folks at a couple of Missouri rendezvous- pam, pete, marty and a ton of other good folks. Most of the folks on this forum are passionate about paddling. Thanks for sharing that passion with me, even if we have only met virtually. I will continue to learn and connect with this community!
