This site is new, and still being developed, bit it provides information on proposed changes to the NWPA.
“Transport Canada is in the process of rewriting the Navigable Waters Protection Act (NWPA) to eliminate a developer’s obligation to consider impacts on navigation when building dams, bridges, causeways or other invasive structures on thousands of waterways across Canada.”

I would encourage everyone to visit. Thanks.
Petition now on-line!
I just returned to the site and found the petition is now working.
You can sign it here: http://www.ispeakforcanadianrivers.ca/index.php/action/sign-petition
I would ask my fellow Canadians to read up on this issue, and then sign the petition and also write their MP’s.
Slow Start . . .
Only 36 people have signed this petition since it was put up yesterday. I know many of us care about the river’s we travel, but don’t bother to take the time to let this be known.
The site provides a good summary of what the issue is. Please take a moment out from your discussions and check out this issue (I want future generations to be able to drive their Pamlico to a Canadian River and put their Greenland paddles into undisturbed water - but the NWPA may soon become a mysterious Gray Thing)
Thanks for hearing me out.
