I have an old Mad River canoe, serial number MAD6X358A989 which was passed onto me. The original wooden gunwales rotted out and I am replacing them. My son tried to help by removing the old gunwales, but didn’t mark the position of the center seat, so I am trying to identify the model so I can look through Mad River’s archived catalogs. Anyone got a handle on how the serial numbers work?

Thanks, that was what I needed. It has Malecite on the bow behind the bunny logo, but I foolishly thought it was some sort of motto, maybe Latin. One of the downsides of a British classical education. Found some photos and I am all set now.
