Illinois River near Tahlequah, OK

We are considering going to kayak the Illinois River in the Tahlequah, OK area. We’ve never been there. I’ve looked for a map online with take in/take out areas and also what stretches might have Class 1 and Class 2 rapids but haven’t been able to find anything.

Does anyone here know of a map or have you been and are familiar with the to options? Would love around a 6 hour (more or less) trip with some 1 and 2 rapids.

Once I determine where the put in/take out would be I also will be looking for ideas of where to stay with our 16’ camper.

Thanks!

I found getting beta on OK rivers to be a bit challenging, not much on AW, did Washita river last summer but found access challenging- sorry I’m of no help but want to encourage you to share your info via the comment section on american whitewater after you complete your trip

Perhaps the Arkansas Canoe Club would be a good resource for you.
(Oklahoma chapter has a Facebook page)

They have gatherings, events, cookouts, training sessions on the water (lots of ACA training, rolling, self rescue, basics - especially during the winter in heated swimming pools).
