32th Annual disorganized CEDAR RIVER CANOE FLOAT 2019
The 32nd anniversary of the disorganized Cedar River Canoe Float will begin Saturday, June 9thth floating through Wednesday, June 12, 2019.
The float will start out putting in at Otranto Park, just south of the Minnesota border (see below for directions) where we will canoe or kayak down the beautiful Cedar River to our final take out in Janesville, IA in five fun-filled, relaxing days. You may elect to float 1, 2, 3, or all 5 days. The choice is yours and we welcome one and all!
We camp every night at established campgrounds along the way (toilets/showers/electrical) so feel free to bring your tent, camper, or RV. All campsites are on a first-come, first-served basis. All camp fees are your own responsibility. Campground fees usually run between $12 and $15 per night (more for an electrical site).
Campgrounds:
Sportsman’s Campground in St. Ansgar (Friday / Saturday), Cedar View Park in Nashua (Sunday / Monday), and Cedar Bend campground in Waverly (Tuesday). For those of you with GPS units, we have included 911 addresses for the campgrounds below.
As usual, we are our own shuttle service as a group so extra support people are not necessary. You will be responsible for all of your own meals both on and off the water (breakfast / lunch / dinner / snacks / drinks) though sharing snacks on the water is always welcome. Restaurants and gas stations are always near for morning coffee, ice, and essentials. Feel free to cook at the campground or patron one of the many local establishments.
There is no registration fee for this year’s float, although donations are always appreciated to cover mailings, boat stickers, and other expenses as they arise!
