How’s the paddling and fly fishing around Iron Mt? what’s the town like and how far does one need to travel to find a secluded lake/stream to paddle? thanks!
Brule River
If you are too afraid of moving water I would recommend the Brule River. Very secluded, lots of wild life (especially if you get started early in morning), but runs low at times so you need to keep an eye on H2o level before starting. One of my favorite rivers. Look at previous page for more info on the Brule.
Go West into Wisconsin…
There are some great destination lakes in the Nicolet National Forest with wonderful fishing...I was up there this spring...Trout fishing and the best artesian well in Wisconsin at Chipmunk Rapids...
North Woods Outfitters
You should drop these folks an email http://www.northwoodsoutfitters.com/ I know them. They are canoers and outdoorsmen and outdoorswomen. Good folks. Aside from paddling, they know fishing, flyfishing, and hunting (gun and archery specializing in traditional archery).
They are in Iron Mountain and know the area intimately.
