Is the Gasp Reflex Controllable or Not?

GASP!
When I left my house the other morning and it was -24 F air temp, I had the uncontrollable gasp reflex just going from warm to really, really cold rapidly! Then, my nostrils stuck together, my eyes glazed over from the cold and I swear icicles formed in my open mouth from the gasp! Gotta love NYS winters!

Sanjay, what you are wondering about, is THE issue I was hoping to see some research not personal experience about. You could very well be right. But for me, I don’t want to think that it is controllable, or one can acclimate, etc if it is a. not so, b. not dependable and c. that idea leads me or others to not know what the real deal is.
