Isle of Palms kayak access

I’ll be on Isle of Palms over Thanksgiving. Where can I access the intracoastal waterway or the marshes?

The IOP marina at the north end.
Good place to start to paddle to Caper’s Island.

Isle of Palms marina
I paid $5 to park at the marina and you are on the coastal waterway if you head south. Heading out to the ocean is tricky becuase you need to consider tides. You might get nailed by big fast boats on coastal waterway. I love the safety of the place but the whole charelston area has so many tow away zones. Myrtle beach has lots of free parking and you get to bust out thru surf. $50 per night is so chaep in myrtle beach for private balcony on the ocean so you can have coffee as you watch sun rise over ocean. Charelston is so historic. I love battery park but charleston is very expensive with so many tow away zones near the water

IOP marina…
is a good way to go…I’d agree with String’s recommendation on it being a good place to start a paddle towards Capers; it’s a great trip- here are some pics from an IOP Marina to Capers Island paddle a month ago:

You might want to check out Sea Kayak Carolina while you’re down there- they are doing a paddle on the day after Thanksgiving over on the Stono River (this is in the James Island/Kiawah side of Charleston). They’ve also got tide info on their website under resources.

Their schedule is here: http://www.seakayakcarolina.com/schedule.html

South end also
Either side of the bridge to sullivan’s island. Get tide charts on the "Post and Courier or their web site.
