Kaministiquia; Fur trading route

Doe anybody know where I can find a detailed description of the old fur trading Route from the boundary district to Thunder Bay.

Retracing the Lower fur trade route from Banff to Montreal solo next spring and I would like to get information on this river.

The stuff I have found is very vague and the maps I have looked at shows a maze of Lakes and rivers. I will be coming from Kenora if that helps.

Yes I know grand portage is much easier . Perhaps one of you fine folks could point me in the right direction.
