Kayak cradle placement ? (distance center to center)

I apologize if I missed it. I had no luck using search.

What is the optimum distance between the kayak cradles regardless of type. In my case I’m using sea wings and can space them as much as 5’6” apart (center to center) on my rack.

There is no "optimal " distance. The farther apart the cradles, the more stable the kayak will be. Also it is better if you can place the cradles at the same spacing as to the bulkheads in your kayak, if they have them.
